Map Maker

Sulphur, Sulphur, Oklahoma

Microschool Founder

Savannah, Director of Map Maker School, is a natural leader shaped by a childhood in a bustling foster family, where she helped raise kids with special needs alongside her parents. Her drive deepened with CJ, her 6-year-old foster brother—profoundly deaf, autistic, and medically fragile at 28 pounds, teetering on institutionalization—and her daughter, adopted at 6 with no language, also deaf and autistic. Dropping college to learn sign language with her mom, Caroline (a special ed veteran and BCBA), Savannah embraced the family mantra: “no stone unturned.” Decades in Education from time at Oklahoma School for the Deaf—as dorm staff, teacher’s aide, and third/fourth-grade teacher—plus roles as an interpreter and director at Texoma Autism Behavior Intervention School, honed her expertise in deaf autistic education. She’s seen the system fail these kids, caught between underfunded schools and inadequate IEPs, and built Map Maker to bridge that gap with tailored education and parent support. Warm, determined, and deeply knowledgeable, Savannah’s life proves she’s the heart and mind to lead this mission.
