The Attuned Community School offers a dynamic learning environment that blends play-based, nature-based, and project- and inquiry-based approaches to foster holistic growth and joy in learning. We believe in the power of play as a cornerstone for development, helping children process emotions, practice self-regulation, establish boundaries, and simply be joyful.

Every day, our students spend 90+ minutes outdoors, engaging in nature-based activities like gardening, hikes, and scavenger hunts that deepen their connection to and appreciation for the natural world. Our project- and inquiry-based learning approaches empower students to solve real-world problems or delve deeply into topics that ignite their curiosity, ensuring authentic and meaningful engagement with their education.

Microschool Founder

Latoya Nelson Microschool in Centerville

Latoya Nelson is a Philadelphia, PA native living in Middle Georgia. She holds three degrees, a B.A. in sociology, an M.Ed in special education and an M.Ed in curriculum and instruction with a focus on trauma and resilience in the classroom. Latoya has ten years of classroom experience from grades K-12, including most recently as a K-5 autism classroom teacher. Previously, she served as a preschool director and a community schools advisor. In her spare time, she partners with companies to offer trauma informed and conscious discipline PD to educators. She is a conscious discipline, trauma informed education, and social justice advocate. She loves working with students at her microschool in Centerville, GA.
